What a night...I attended the PFA (The Professional Footballers’ Association) awards last night. I received the PFA Lifetime Achievement Award for outstanding service to Women’s football.
I am very honoured to have received this award, as when I first started football as a little girl, I could have never imagined reaching the heights that I have within my 20 year career. I’ve had lots of proud moments in my career and this is certainly a huge moment for me.
If I had one message for any girls/ladies out there who want to become a footballer, it’s to never give up. I’ve had lots of setbacks in my career, but I believe my strength and determination to succeed is the reason why I’ve achieved so much and how I was able to pick up this award from the PFA.
The PFA have been a massive support, especially in the last 5 to 6 years where Women's Football has significantly changed and has come a long way since. So I am truly honoured to be this year’s winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
I want to take the time to thank my family, teammates, managers and fans. This award is for you, as I wouldn’t be where I am today without your support.
Never give up!
Kelly.
